I want to publish a basic website for residents of an apartment building to list things for sale.



I'm aware of Geocities as a place where basic websites can be created.

If you only want to cover one building, you should ask the landlord to install a notice board. It would be far more effective and far less labour intensive to run than a website which is designed to go world wide. Would everyone in your building be connected to the internet? Such a site would be good for your whole town.



To publish an advertising site you need several things:

A PHP script to do the job.

A host with free PHP and MySQL. I'm not sure Geocities has that by my free service does http:at3host.com

A reasonable amount of space to put the ads. You can have 250 meg at my place.

A good URL

No popups

A person to help.
